Christine Newton-John Sentenced for Over Exercising her Frail Husband to Death

Chrisine Newton-John, 41, was caught on tape forcing her frail husband, James Mason, 73, to exercise in a swimming pool until he died. She plead guilty to reckless homicide and was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Yep, 4 measley years for torturing a frail old man to death in the swimming pool at their apartment complex. Mr. Mason tried 43 times to get out of the pool. He was afraid of water, and had a heart condition. Christine continued to pull him by his arms and legs, preventing him from leaving the water, until he had a heart attack. Then she yanked him off of life support. Police suspsicions were aroused because they had investigated other complaints about abuse to Mr. Mason. They found the swimming pool survelliance tape and described it as bone-chilling.

Now, I don't know much about legal issues or killing people, but somehow it sits wrong with me that Christine is only going to languish in prison for 4 years after torturing Mr. Mason to death. How bad of a man could he be? She had known him since she was a little boy. Surely, after all those years of being treated like a son by Mr. Mason, Christine knew his personality by the time she married him in 2006. What the hell kind of retirment benefits did she expect to collect? They lived in an apartment, for the love of Pete. How much money was possibly at stake here. Oh, I no, that is not really the issue, but it does strike at the core of how far a person will go for small financial gain. RIP Mr. Mason.
